BREWERS TO FACE NEEDHAM MARKET IN FA CUP FIRST ROUND

17 October 2022

BURTON Albion will play Needham Market at home in the First Round Proper of The Emirates FA Cup.

A total of 48 clubs from the EFL's League One and Two joined the 32 non-League clubs who progressed from the qualifying stages in the draw and the Brewers are now up against the team currently eighth in Southern League Premier Central.

The Brewers were ball No 8 and were drawn out of the bag with a home tie, which will take place across the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 November.

Date and ticket details to be announced in due course.

Brewers manager Dino Maamria said: “I’m well aware they play in a decent division which includes Nuneaton Borough, one of my former clubs, and Tamworth one of our neighbours. It’s a division I know a bit about although not so much about them as a team. They have started the season well with five wins from nine games.

“The most important thing for me is to be drawn at home as it’s great to have a home tie for our fans. We would like to progress as far as we can. The finance side is really important but it’s also the excitement of the journey of a good FA Cup run.

“They will be well supported, and it would be a big scalp for them to beat a League One club. We never underestimate anyone, and we know we have to turn up and be at our best. We have a few games before then but it’s a fixture we will look forward to.”

Winning clubs in the First Round proper will pick up £41,000 from the competition's prize fund as well as a place in the Second Round.
