MATCH REPORT | BURTON ALBION U18S 1-2 STOURBRIDGE FC U18S

21 September 2022

BURTON Albion's U18 girls suffered an opening day defeat at home to Stourbridge, the visitors overturning a half-time deficit to run out 4-2 winners.

The Brewers took the lead against the run of play in the 24th minute through midfielder Taylor-Mae Knight, a lead they would take into the break.

But Albion soon found themselves 2-1 in the second half, Senna Robinson and Phoebe Crampton putting Stourbridge in the lead by the hour mark.

Forward Farrah Hoyle got one back for the Brewers to equalise, but further goals from Robinson and Imogen Butler ensured it would be the visitors taking all three points.

Coach Sam Bennett said: "The opposition were very good technically. Initially we found success when we took our chances with a ball through their high line.

"But our midfield was opened up too easily and we struggled to get a build-up of possession to provide opportunities.

"Despite that there were positives. Lola Smith in goal kept us in the game while Tilly Bridgett, Shayla Gisbourne and Hannah Cox did well."

The Brewers will be looking to bounce back in their next Central Warwickshire Girls League game at home to Coventry United on October 1.
