IT’S back-to-back home games for the Brewers starting with the visit of Forest Green on Saturday (kick off 3pm).

The Brewers have not played Forest Green in the EFL but we have locked horns in our non-league days.

Forest Green are leading the way in terms of sustainability for football clubs.

Not only is Forest Green the only vegan football club in the world but the club is continually looking at new ways to push the boundaries of environmental consciousness in sport and that’s why FIFA described Forest Green as the greenest football club in the world – including being supplied by 100% renewable electricity and carbon neutral gas.

The referee will be Sunny Gill. In the seven games he has officiated this season, he has shown 24 yellow cards and no red cards.

The assistant referees will be Lewis Raper and Steve Durnall, with Joe Simpson as the fourth official.

Alfie Billings, aged nine, and Archie Billings, aged seven, are the mascots. If you want to be a mascot find out more here.

Tomorrow there will be a collection for Derbyshire Blood Bikes, taking place around the Pirelli Stadium. Please donate generously if you can.

Welcome to Outwoods FC, who are taking part in a Matchday Experience with us this weekend!

The club says: “All of our committee, managers and coaches are 100% committed to the betterment of the children under our influence and the sense of 'Club' we have developed spills out into the wider community with help and support being given to charities, schools and other community partnerships. There's no greater gift a parent can give to their child that betters the gift of 'time' whether it be watching them train or play or helping out with their team.”

COME and get involved in Burton Albion’s first-ever eco Family Zone.

Taking place before Saturday’s clash against Forest Green Rovers, we will be hosting a number of activities, such as:

  • Launch of Planet League Competition – Help Burton Albion win the Planet League Cup! This is the biggest EVER football-themed climate action tournament and we want you on board to help us win.  Come and have a go at the Planet League Challenge, try and win a prize and sign up to represent us in this competition.
  • Layering up challenge;
  • Keep hydrated and fill your water bottle for free at our new Pure Ionic water fountain either in the community room at the Community Football Centre or on our portable station on the 3G pitch before the game;
  • We are becoming a Utilita Football Rebooted drop off point – bring your old football boots (or Astro turf boots), that you have grown out of, and we will ensure they are rehomed so that they don’t end up in landfill.
  • Pedal to the Pitch – did you know we have a bike station where you can chain your bike to whilst you are at the BAFC match?  No having to pay for parking or walk a long way.  Why not pedal to the pitch and chain your bike up for free?
  • Waste Savvy Staffs will be on hand with some fun and games to show us what waste can be disposed of where in your home and in the local community.

Our regular Family Zone activities are taking place too such as: football, archery, inflatable fun, colouring and much more across the Astro pitch and the Community football building.

Billy Brewer will be on hand and has been trying out some of the indoor and outdoor activities as can be seen in our gallery with pictures taken by Leila Coker. View HERE
