HUNDREDS of jobseekers were able to meet up with prospective employers at a major event at the Pirelli Stadium.
Burton MP Kate Kniveton hosted the event with Unipart and JCB as the major sponsors.
Kate said: “It’s an important event. We have quite a vibrant jobs market locally and we have 77 per cent employment in the constituency of Burton but we have 62 employers today with 2,100 jobs on offer and we know that we have nearly 800 jobseekers who have registered to attend today.
“It’s good for the local economy to get as many people as possible into work. We have around 2,100 people in the constituency who are unemployed and claiming benefits and this gives them a great opportunity to find a job. It’s also a great showcase for anyone looking for a career change.
“The response from employers has been fantastic and we have even had to turn some away as we are absolutely full. There is a wide choice of jobs here today, something for everybody.
“It’s great to be here at the Pirelli Stadium. It’s a landmark in the town and everyone knows where it is. We are also putting on transport to get here with the support of Burton Albion Community Trust, with minibuses from Uttoxeter.”
Brewers Chairman Ben Robinson said: “We are delighted to welcome our MP and the Jobs Fair to the home of Burton Albion.
“The Pirelli Stadium is the perfect place to host these major events with our central location, parking facilities and suites and boxes which can accommodate conference and business events like this.
“We hope to see hundreds of jobseekers find work through this event.”
