THIS Saturday, 15 April 2023, represents the 34th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
The Brewers face Sheffield Wednesday in League One at the Pirelli Stadium, where the 97 Liverpool supporters who lost their lives in 1989 will be remembered.
Wreaths on behalf of the Brewers and Wednesday will be laid on the pitch before kick-off by the managers, Dino Maamria and Darren Moore, followed by a minute’s applause.
Back at Hillsborough, the stadium will be open to all visitors wishing to pay their respects throughout the day from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
At 2:55pm, the annual service begins at the permanent memorial site adjacent to the South Stand bridge.
The service is scheduled to run for approximately 20 minutes, during which time Parkside Road traffic will be suspended.
Later in the evening, the wreaths from the Pirelli Stadium will be laid at the memorial site by Owls officials upon returning to Sheffield.
Everyone at Burton Albion and Sheffield Wednesday expresses ongoing sympathies to the families and friends of the 97 and the wider Liverpool community affected so deeply by the disaster.
