DINO Maamria praised his team for an "outstanding performance" against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Brewers toppled the Owls from the top of the league with a 3-2 success thanks to two goals from Mark Helm and a header from skipper John Brayford,
The Brewers manager said: “It is a brilliant day for the football club. The performance was up there with the best I have seen at the Pirelli Stadium. We were convincing winners really. We scored three brilliant goals, conceded two sloppy ones but even then I never doubted we would win the game.
“We believe we can beat anybody here. When you are playing the best team in the league you have to go into the game with intent and believe that you can win it. If you can’t win the game in your head you can’t win it on the pitch.
“Everyone saw our intent from the first minute and you could see the belief, that confidence. You saw it in the way Mark Helm took his goals and playing like that we can beat anybody.
“Mark is a real asset. He has huge potential. He’s robust and his quality with the ball is there for all to see. He runs his socks off and he’s the complete midfielder.
“You also saw the way we stayed resilient when we conceded a penalty in front of their fans and that shows how we have grown as a team. We saw it through brilliantly."
Maamria was also pleased with the way his team bounced back after defeat at Charlton on Easter Monday.
He said: “At Charlton we didn’t give a good account of ourselves and we had an honest conversation afterwards. We had three days leading up to this game and we try to improve always. “
The manager mixed things up today and was pleased with how it worked for his side.
He said: “I moved John Brayford more centrally; put Deji as a wing back, and put Conor Shaughnessy in front of our back three and we did really well.
“It’s Bolton now on Tuesday and it’s a game we want to win and are looking forward to.”
