FACTS and figures relating to tonight's game from Tony Bentley

The last time the Brewers played on 25th April was during their 2014/15 League Two title winning season. Northampton Town were the visitors to the Pirelli Stadium for the first game since Albion had secured promotion at Morecambe the previous week. A crowd of 5,720 were present as former Burton defender Zander Diamond put through his own net to give Albion a 5th minute lead. Phil Edwards doubled the lead after 31 minutes, before Lucas Akins made it 3-0 before half time, converting a 42nd minute penalty. Northampton pulled a goal back through Lawson D’Ath in the 53rd minute, as three points were earned but not the title. That would have to wait for another week.

In 2011 Torquay United travelled to Burton for a League Two fixture. A crowd of 3,280 saw the visitors open the scoring through Chris Zebroski in the 10th minute. Gavin Tomlin made it 2-0 to the Gulls in the 14th minute. Burton reduced the deficit through John McGrath in the 26th minute, before Greg Pearson made it 2-2 in the 41st minute. Calvin Zola put Albion ahead for the first time 11 minutes into the second half. However, Billy Kee made it 3-3 in the 73rd minute, scoring his final ever goal for Torquay, prior to joining the Brewers in the summer.

April 25th 2006 saw Dagenham & Redbridge visit Burton for a Nationwide Conference fixture, played in front of 1,235 fans. Dagenham took a 3rd minute lead through Chris Moore. Daryl Clare levelled proceedings in the 14th minute, before Shaun Harrad put Nigel Clough’s side ahead in the 23rd minute. The Daggers earned a point from the game courtesy of Cliff Akurang’s 72nd minute equaliser.

It was a Southern League fixture on this date in 1998. A crowd of 786 saw David Holmes score the Brewers goals in a 1-1 draw at local rivals Tamworth.

In 1992 Fisher Athletic secured a 2-0 win at Eton Park in the Southern League, in front of just 425 fans.

Today will see Burton Albion face Lincoln City at Sincil Bank with their fifth successive different manager in the dugout for the trip to Lincolnshire. In 2010/11 it was Paul Peschisolido, in 2019/20 Nigel Clough, 2020/21 Jake Buxton, 2021/22 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, whilst Tuesday will see Dino Maamria in charge.

The Brewers last visited the Imps of 29th January 2022, when a crowd of 9,159 saw Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side come from behind to win 2-1. John Marquis gave Lincoln a 49th minute lead, before Joe Powell equalised 7 minutes later. Sam Hughes headed home the winner with 10 minutes to go. It turned out to be the last game of Daniel Jebbison’s loan, as he was recalled due to injuries at Bramhall Lane. Also, it proved to be Burton’s final away win of last season.

It was a horror show on Boxing Day 2020 when Burton were thumped 5-1 by Michael Appleton’s side. The writing was on the wall for Jake Buxton’s side as Lincoln raced into a two goal lead inside the first seven minutes. Burton were already 4-0 down before substitute Kane Hemmings pulled a goal back. The Imps scored again in a defeat which turned out to be Buxton’s penultimate game in charge.

On March 7th 2020 it was the penultimate game of the Covid 19 curtailed season. Joe Powell gave Burton a 6th minute lead, before Tome Hopper levelled proceedings in the 21st. Powell scored his second after 30 minutes before Hopper did likewise 8 minutes later. Anthony Scully scored what turned out the be Lincoln winner after 62 minutes, but not before Lucas Akins had chance to earn Burton a point, as he saw his penalty comfortably saved.
