George Moncur gave the home side the lead after 38 minutes. January signing Luke Varney was introduced in the 51st minute, and a minute later he scored his one and only league goal for Burton. Burton Albion earned Cup success on this date in 1997. It was a trip to Sudbury Town for the 2nd leg of the Dr Martens League Cup Final. Burton had won the home leg three days earlier by a 3-0 scoreline, and completed a 4-0 aggregate win courtesy of a goal from Steve Spooner.

It was a trip to Sussex on this date in 1995. The Brewers faced Hastings Town in a Southern Premier League game in front of 402 fans. Darren Grocutt scored the only goal of the game to earn the points for Burton.

The previous meeting was played behind closed doors during Covid times. Saturday 10th October 2020 saw Jake Buxton’s side lose 2-0 through goals from Luke Jephcott in the 25th minute and Byron Moore in the 47th minute.

Burton were chasing promotion from League Two when they visited Home Park on April 3rd 2015. Liverpool loanee Kevin Stewart gave Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side a 33rd minute lead, with a goal on his debut. The points were shared though, as Carl McHugh equalised in the 86th minute to send the majority of the 8,649 fans home happier.
