MANAGER INTERVIEW - DINO MAAMRIA PRE-EXETER CITY

31 August 2023

BREWERS Manager Dino Maamria says his side will need to be ready in order to get a result in this Saturday’s Sky Bet League One game at home to Exeter City.

Maamria will not be on the touchline for this weekend’s game following his FA ban, but Albion manager says this won’t change any of his sides preparations or readiness to win.

“Yes, our preparation will be as normal despite me not being on the sideline. John Dreyer will be there, Dan Robinson will be there, Chris Beardsley will be there, and Jake Kean will be there, so that doesn’t change. It’s going to be a different experience for me, one that I’ve never done it before,” said Maamria.

“Training has been really good, but the main focus has been about ways to try and score more goals. We now also have to do that without having all of our forwards fit to play. It’s something we have worked on and it’s a game that we will be ready for.”

Exeter City currently sit second in the table and Maamria believes his side will face a very tough test at the Pirelli Stadium.

They recruited very well in the summer, spent well and are where they are for a reason. They only lost one game to Portsmouth and they were very unfortunate to lose that 1-0. They have loads of energy and we have to be right up for this game to both perform and win it.

Maamria says the Albion faithful have been brilliant both home and away so far this season, but is now urging his sides’ supporters to continue their support to try and help get them their first three points of the season.

“Our fans have turned up in numbers for the Derby and Bolton game and have back us throughout – now we are asking them to do that again this weekend against Exeter because this game is another big, big one and we need them again throughout.”

Touching on tomorrow night’s transfer deadline, Maamria says he doesn’t too much activity as it stands, but says there are still a few targets he’s still working on.

“I don’t expect a late one tomorrow night. We have three targets in-mind. If we get one of them, then we get one of them – if we don’t, we don’t. I want to add players that are going to add value to the team, so if we can add that then great, but we’re not going to sign anyone just for the sake of it.”
