PIRELLI Stadium will host a fundraising event that aims to reach the £15,000 target required for Academy Coach John Clarke’s new electric wheelchair.
The evening will take place on Thursday 22 February 2024, featuring Nigel Clough, Andy Garner, Shaun Barker and Keith Gilroy, and will be hosted by Aaron Webster.
John, who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, now has his new chair and is back working at the place he loves the most, Burton Albion.
Upon the news of John’s chair breaking, fellow academy coach Will Clough started a fundraising page to purchase the chair to gift to John. Donations flew in and very quickly went over the £12,000 mark of the £15,000 target required.
The fundraiser has now been organised in order to try and raise the outstanding amount.
Host Aaron Webster said: “Myself and Gaffer (Nigel Clough) spoke last month about the idea of putting together an evening that could help raise the remaining funds needed to pay for Clarkey’s chair.
“Once we’d got out heads together, we then spoke to Garns, Barks and Gilly about joining panel, who were all more than happy to help.
“All of them have some fantastic stories to tell from throughout their playing careers and I’m sure it promises to be a laugh a minute.
“Clarkey is a great guy, and we really urge as many people as possible to come and help us raise the funds needed.”
Tickets can be bought online or in the Club Shop, priced at just £20 - includes a pie, chips and pea supper.
Arrival time is 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
