BURTON Albion would like to remind all fans that they may be asked for ID if they are taking advantage of an age related concession price.

The football club operates concessionary prices for young adults (17-22)  and for under 17s that offer considerable savings on normal adult admission prices.

In order to ensure that this offer is not being abused, fans may be asked to produce ID when entering at the turnstiles, whether paying in cash or producing a ticket.

This ID can be in the form of a copy of your passport, birth certificate or driving licence and can be stored and shown on a mobile phone.

Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 or over) who must stay with them.

Brewers Chairman Ben Robinson said: “At Burton Albion we aim to make football as affordable as possible for children and young people but it has been drawn to our attention that some people attending games are attempting to get a reduced admission to which they are not entitled.

“Fans will know that on our website, in all ticket stories and in our regulations displayed at the turnstiles we reserve the right to ask for ID to prove age.  This is in line with all football clubs and our fans are routinely asked to provide ID at many away fixtures.

“At Burton Albion, this applies to both cash entry and tickets as pre-purchased tickets are often made by a third party or online and therefore age cannot be verified at the point of purchase.

“We would always recommend buying a season ticket as this ensures the cheapest prices and once age has been verified once on purchase of the season tickets, fans shouldn’t be asked again.

“We know that these checks have had some negative feedback from a small number of fans but I hope that the majority of supporters who are making fair use of our concessions will understand why we need ID checks so that we can ensure that it is used fairly and that we can maintain these great price savings for our young supporters.

“We thank you all for your patience and understanding.”
