DINO Maamria says he is looking for quality not quantity in the transfer window and that he may have to be patient to bring in the right players.
He also only wants to sign players who would be good enough to go straight into his starting line up.
The Brewers manager said: “I have made it clear that our recruitment needs to be better, and we are not going to sign players just to sign players.
“We need to strengthen, there’s no doubt about it, but we need quality not quantity. We have identified exactly what we need and we are in discussion with certain personnel. Some of those players would be cup tied so couldn’t play this weekend anyway and some might not be available for a week or so.
“We aren’t going to panic and sign our plan B or C players as we want to make sure at the end of the window that we have brought in the right players.
“We are focussing on our targets and are determined to stick with them.”
The manager says that some players may leave but that he’s under no pressure to move players on before he can add to the squad.
He said: “If someone came in with a million pounds for Victor Adeboyejo, we would think about it, but we don’t want to lose our players. Like any transfer window at any club some will go, and some will come in, but we are not in a position where we have to get players out to get them in.”
The only player currently out of contract is Adrian Mariappa, who has been offered a new deal. The other players signed as free agents since August are under contract to the end of the month.
Maamria said: “We have made an offer to try and keep Adrian Mariappa and hopefully we will sort a deal. We will talk to the others but there’s no hurry at present.”
