BURTON ALBION SIGN GOALKEEPER JORDAN AMISSAH ON LOAN FROM SHEFFIELD UNITED

6 January 2023

BURTON Albion Football Club is delighted to confirm the loan signing of goalkeeper Jordan Amissah from Sheffield United.

The German stopper, who stands at 6'6" tall, has signed in time for our Emirates FA Cup trip to Grimsby Town tomorrow and will be available for manager Dino Maamria's squad travelling to Blundell Park.

Born in Herne and of Ghanaian descent, Amissah spent his youth career in Germany with the likes of Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund before moving to Sheffield in 2018, and signing his first professional contract with the Blades in 2021.

Amissah had two loan spells last season - making six appearances for Guiseley and 18 for Spennymoor Town, both playing in National League North - before making his United debut earlier this season, coming off the bench to replace Wes Foderingham in the Blades' 1-1 draw with Luton Town.

Now Amissah, who played 90 minutes against the Brewers in their friendly against the Blades in pre-season, is excited to get started with the Brewers for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

"I'm absolutely buzzing," said Amissah. "I got the call last night and everything happened quite quickly.

"I played here in pre-season and had a decent match, and the lads have been top so far. They've been chatting, helping me not feel awkward and it's been really good so far.

"I would say my strengths are in making saves. My size is a big advantage, I don't mind coming out for a cross or two and I like to communicate, so hopefully we can get that going early doors and go from there."

Maamria said: "With Viljami (Sinisalo) going back to Aston Villa, we know we needed to strengthen that department. Ben (Garratt) has also had a car accident on Thursday and he's very doubtful for the (Grimsby Town) game.

"Jordan has always been on our radar - he's one of the top options that we had. He played in the pre-season game against us and he really stood out.

"He's a dominant keeper, a good size, agile and athletic. We're thankful to Sheffield United to allow us to bring him in at such short notice."

Jordan will wear squad number 24 in his time with the Brewers. Welcome to the Pirelli Stadium, Jordan!
