ADEBOYEJO AND POWELL VISIT BACT FEMALE PARTICIPATION SESSION

6 January 2023

VICTOR Adeboyejo and Joe Powell were the visitors to Burton Albion Community Trust’s Female Participation session last night.

The session is a social way for women aged 18+ to play football, whether it be for the first time, or to help with progression into playing regularly in a competitive league.

The Brewers stars started the appearance by getting involved and giving tips during several passing drills, before they were split into two teams and helped coach their respective sides in a small-sided game.

After the session the players stayed around for conversations, and were happy to sign autographs and pose for selfies.

Striker Adeboyejo, the club’s PFA Women’s and Girls Sport Ambassador, said: “It’s been a brilliant session. The girls were so welcoming and the match at the end was very competitive. I’m glad I scored one goal but I could have more.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard some of the girls hadn’t played football before joining the group and it’s definitely a great way for more women to take up the sport.”

Burton Albion Community Trust Women and Girls Coordinator, Steve Guest, said: “The girls loved having Victor and Joe visit the session this evening and I could tell they were pushing themselves a bit more too.

“Our female participation group has grown massively since it started a few years ago. We now have two teams who both play in competitive leagues across Staffordshire. Absolutely anyone can join and there’s no pressure to play competitively.”
