IT’S back to Sky Bet League One action as the Brewers take on Shrewsbury Town at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, January 14, with a 3pm kick off.
DID YOU KNOW?
Shrewsbury manager Steve Cotterill is a former Brewers player who was sold to Wimbledon in 1989 alongside fellow striker John Gayle for a fee in excess of £75,000.
Since our promotion to the Football League in 2009 Burton Albion and Shrewsbury have met 19 times. The Brewers have won only five of those games and only one of the last seven meetings. We have lost the last two games against Shrewsbury.
There will be a minute’s silence before kick off to remember all those who have passed away in 2022 who have a connection with Burton Albion. There will be dedications from family members to their loved ones included in the Matchday Brewer.
Our regular Family Zone will be back in operation for this game starting 90 minutes before kick-off and is open to home and away supporters.
Come and try out football, archery, inflatable fun, colouring and much more on the 3G pitch and inside the community building.
There is plenty more information for young fans on the club website such as the history of the club, how to become a mascot and fun things to do such as our autograph and colouring sheets which you can download now - click here to visit our Family Section!
Burton Albion Football Club is shocked, saddened and disappointed to have received reports from supporters and Kick It Out regarding homophobic language being used by some of our supporters at recent men’s first team matches. The club wishes to make it clear that it does not - and never will - tolerate behaviour of this kind, and condemns it entirely. This abuse has no place in football.
We are actively investigating the reports that have been sent to us, and anyone found guilty of using discriminatory language will have action taken against them - which may include a club ban. As a community club, equality is at the heart of all that we do. We proudly support Rainbow Laces each season and anyone, regardless of orientation, ethnicity, age, gender or belief, is welcome at Burton Albion Football Club. That will never change.
But we must be clear - anyone who feels it appropriate to use homophobic slurs, or discrimination and abuse of any kind, at our games is not welcome at the Pirelli Stadium. That, too, will never change. Anyone who hears any form of discrimination or abuse at Burton Albion games is encouraged to make the matchday stewards aware and report it to the club as soon as possible.
Video Match Passes are not available for this game, but you can buy an audio Match Pass for £2.50 which are available to buy now here https://www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/ifollow/subscribe/
