BURTON ALBION SIGN NORTHERN IRELAND INTERNATIONAL DALE TAYLOR ON LOAN FROM NOTTINGHAM FOREST

BURTON Albion Football Club is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Northern Irish international striker Dale Taylor from Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

The 19-year-old, who made his senior Northern Ireland debut in November 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania, has four goal involvements in seven Premier League 2 games so farr this season.

Taylor has progressed through the Forest academy since joining in 2020, moving to the Reds from Irish Premiership team Linfield, for whom he scored on his debut aged just 15.

In April 2022 he was named on the bench for Steve Cooper’s side in their 5-1 win over Swansea.

The youth prospect has impressed while progressing through age groups at Forest and was an instrumental part of the young Forest team that reached the FA Youth Cup Final, scoring in the semi-final against Chelsea.

The centre forward will bring lots of energy to the front line and will be a nuisance to defenders across League One. He can also play anywhere across the front three if required.

“I spoke to the manager and he said he’s had his eye on me for a while," Taylor said. “When I played here (in pre-season) the fans were amazing and that was just for a pre-season game.”

Taylor explained that he is excited by the challenge senior football and hopes to embrace the opportunity.

“Playing in League One is a great opportunity to gain experience of men’s football and I can’t wait to get started.

“It’s going to be tough and senior football will be different but hopefully I can keep up the scoring this season.”

Brewers manager Dino Maamria spoke of the impact he hopes the young striker can have. He said: “We watched him a lot at Forest U23’s and he always stood out - he fits in the way we like to play. He presses high and works hard.

“We believe he can add that threat going forward and can be a good addition for us.”

Taylor will wear squad number 8 in his time at the Pirelli Stadium. Welcome, Dale!
