SUPPORTING GREEN FOOTBALL WEEKEND

30 January 2023

BURTON ALBION FC and Burton Albion Community Trust will be supporting Green Football Weekend.

Taking place between February 3 and 6, Green Football Weekend will see millions of fans come together to tackle climate change.

More than 80 of the UK’s professional clubs will participate in the Green Football Cup, which is operating now.

You can help the Brewers in the competition, scoring green goals by taking actions such as walking and cycling more, eating a veggie meal, or even reducing your shower time.

As well as helping your club up the table, there will be money-can’t-buy prizes on offer, including unique matchday experiences and behind-the-scenes days at Sky Sports and BT Sport.

The Brewers are away at Fleetwood on Saturday, and we would encourage supporters to travel on the official club coach or consider car sharing.

Why not try to cycle to the Pirelli Stadium for future home games, our catch the bus if possible.

Burton Albion Community Trust is continually looking at ways to make the club more sustainable.

Latest initiatives include:

  • A water fountain in the community room of the Community Football Centre to help reduce plastic waste;
  • Starting a social action project in Mosely Academy with a group of students called ‘Protect the Planet’ - part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme;
  • Running the Planet League Green Week in schools. This is various different activities that families get involved in to score goals for their club to climb the league table and it includes things like walking instead of driving to work/school, switching your milk for a dairy free alternative etc
  • BACT is a drop off point for Utillita Football Rebooted where people can drop old boots in to be reused/recycled.
