BURTON Albion Community Trust is making an exciting addition to its annual running event with a 5K race now being part of the plans.

The Brewers 10K which proved so popular last year is taking place on Sunday, October 29.

The inaugural race held in 2022 was hailed as a great community event with hundreds of runners taking part. It was the first closed road race in Burton’s history.

Now a 5K run has been added to make the event accessible for even more people.

A total of 478 people took part in the Brewers 10K last year with hundreds more turning out to cheer them on.

The race was the first-ever closed road event in Burton history, with the race starting and finishing at the Pirelli Stadium.

Now runners of all abilities are being invited to enter the 2023 event which will follow the same route, and which will take place on Sunday, October 29 with a 9am start.

The 5K is also open to enter now covering part of the 10K course.

You can join the 10K for a special early bird price of £24 for a limited period only, after which the cost of entry rises to £26.

The early bird entry price for the 5K is £22.

This year’s event is being organised in partnership with Run Through – the UK’s largest running event organiser.

Rob Sullivan from Run Through said: “Run Through is delighted to be partnering with Burton Albion Community Trust for the second hosting of the Brewers 10k. Starting and finishing at the Pirelli Stadium, it's a great event for football fans, and the fast and picturesque course is perfect for runners of all abilities.

“We're excited to work with the Community Trust to build on the great work they have already done to make the event iconic for Burton-on-Trent and the local area, and to help raise funds for important causes."

Will Evans, Head of Community at Burton Albion FC, said: “The 5K is a really positive addition to the event and should give lots more people the chance to take part.

“We have already had lots of entries and we are now hoping to see another big uptake after adding the 5K as an option.

“This will be a fantastic community event that everyone will enjoy being part of.”
