BREWERS SIGN STEVE SEDDON

14 July 2023

BURTON Albion has signed Steve Seddon on a season-long loan from Oxford United.

The 25 year-old began his career with Birmingham City, signing his professional contract in 2016. He made 12 senior appearances at St Andrew’s across a five year spell which included loans at Stevenage, AFC Wimbledon and Portsmouth before making the permanent switch to Oxford United in the summer of 2021.

Seddon spent the second half of last season on loan at Cambridge United, helping them to avoid relegation.

An attacking full-back, he has scored 11 goals in his career.

On signing the full back, manager Dino Maamria said: "We've been chasing after Steve for the last couple of years. I took him on loan when I was at Stevenage and he's a player I know really well.

"He's got brilliant attributes with and without the ball. He's very hard working and fits in very well with what we're looking for. We're delighted to have him and hopefully we can offer him a home where he's comfortable and loved by everyone and hopefully we will see the best out of him."

After signing for the Brewers, Seddon said: "I've been in and around training for a while now so it's great to get the deal sorted and I'm very excited to get going.

"I've kept in contact with Dino since we were together at Stevenage and for me it was a no brainer signing here. The lads and the staff have been brilliant so far and I've got on with them and a couple who I knew before. I've really enjoyed my time here so far so why wouldn't there be the potential to stay longer?"
