DEFENDER Tom Hamer has penned a new two-year contract with Burton Albion.
A firm fan favourite, Hamer signed for Burton in January 2021 and quickly endeared himself to fans with his all-action performances at both right and left-back, as well as his versatility to play anywhere across the defensive line.
Since his debut, he has made 115 appearances, scored seven goals and contributed 15 assists, five of which came during last season.
After signing his new deal, Hamer said: "I’m glad that everything’s been sorted. I’ve been training for a couple of weeks with the boys, and I think seeing the players that Dino’s bringing in, the quality that’s brought in, I think this next season is going to be a special one. The confidence and trust he (Dino) shows within me was obviously a big reason for me re-signing.
It’s such a community club where they do so much all the time within the community, and I think you can see how well run the club is. I’ve enjoyed my two and a half years and I’m looking forward to more.”
Brewers manager Dino Maamria said: "We are thrilled that it's finally over the line. I want to thank the chairman for backing me to make the deal happen. Tom had interest elsewhere but after a lot of conversations but he decided that this is the best place to spend the next two years of his career.
"We know what he's about and Tom knows what we're about. He knows the club and the dressing room well. He's an integral part of what we're tring to do and we're thrilled to have him back."
