BREWERS SIGN JASPER MOON

18 July 2023

BURTON Albion has signed defender Jasper Moon on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Barnsley.

Moon spent the second half of last season on loan at the Pirelli Stadium. Making 18 appearances and keeping six clean sheets, he played a key role in helping the Brewers to comfortably avoid relegation.

He quickly became a fan favourite thanks to his tough tackling and no nonsense approach to defending.

The 22 year-old is a product of the Barnsley academy and after a loan spell at York City, broke through into the first-team in 2020. To date he has made 34 appearances for the Tykes.

"It's great to be back. We had such a good run the last time I was here and hopefully we can pick up where I left off. There was lots of personal growth before.

"We had a brilliant team and I've seen the additions that Dino has brought into the team and it's made me want to come back even more. As a player you always want success and I feel that I can get that here as an individual and as a team."

Brewers manager Dino Maamria said: "Jasper is a player we know really well and the Chairman has been great in making it happen. It's a deal we've worked really hard on. He settled in really well when he came in January and played a massive part in the turn of last season and we're delighted to beat other people to his signature. He's a player for now and for the future. He's at a great age and he's a brilliant guy to have in the dressing room."
