BREWERS SIGN JAKE CAPRICE

19 July 2023

BURTON Albion has confirmed the signing of wing-back Jake Caprice.

The defender signed for Exeter City in August 2020 after playing for Tranmere Rovers for two years and has signed a one-year deal with the option for a second.

Originally based in Lambeth during his childhood, Caprice’s career started as a player for Crystal Palace's Under 18s and Under 21s team, then transferred to Blackpool in 2012.

After loan spells with Dagenham & Redbridge, St Mirren and Tamworth, he made the permanent switch to Lincoln City in 2014. Spells at Woking, Leyton Orient and Tranmere Rovers followed before signing for the Grecians in 2020. He made 105 appearances at St James' Park and scored two goals.

“I’m happy to get it over the line and obviously I’m delighted to be here, and I’m just ready to get going. Training has been really, really good. The standards were high, and as a collective I think all the boys are looking really strong.

"The game last night was very good. I’m excited for the season and hopefully we can achieve something special this season," said Caprice.

Brewers Manager Dino Maamria said: “We are delighted to have Jake. He’s a player who’s obviously caused us many problems playing against him in the past, but he gives us that experience, that energy and thrust coming back from wing-back or full-back. With him, Steve Seddon and Tom Hamer it gives us brilliant options going forward.”
