BURTON ALBION 2023 FIRST-YEAR SCHOLARS CONFIRMED AS PDP SIDE TAKES SHAPE

25 July 2023

BURTON Albion academy has welcomed five new scholars into the Professional Development Phase side ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The Brewers' U19s side will be competing once again in the EFL Youth Alliance North East Division with the new scholars, graduating from our U16 setup, joining six second years in the PDP this term.

Academy manager Dan Robinson said: “We are excited to see the further progression of our new scholars, as well as the second years. I’m sure they’re looking forward to working with our staff in the professional development phase.

“As we have seen there is plenty of opportunity to progress to train and represent the first-team. We look forward to working hard with them and achieving their potential.”

The new scholars are:

Josh Taroni

Josh signed for the Academy aged 10 after representing Burton Albion Community Trust’s Advanced Development Centre. An attacking full-back, he has represented the Brewers at every age group.

Kye Bilton

A pacey centre-back, Kye is a physical defender and is comfortable on the ball. He previously played for Nottingham Forest.

Cyprian Mtenga

Starting at the age of nine, Cyprian has represented the Brewers from every age group right the way through to earning a scholarship. A tenacious and tireless centre midfielder, he likes to cover every blade of grass and never shies away from a tackle.

Jack Newall

Comfortable on the ball with an appetite for beating defenders, Jack loves scoring goals as well as having an eye for a set piece. His previous clubs are Derby County and West Bromwich Albion.

Kia Svarc

Kia is a speedy forward who loves running in behind the last defender. He previously spent two years with Derby County.

The new scholars will join goalkeeper Kamil Dudek, defenders Cameron Gilbert, Toby Oakes, Jonny Rush and Will Tamen, as well as midfielders Charlie Knowles, Connor Pace, Ronny Wakelin and forwards William Ademiluyi, Kiyan Baker-McKay, Ché Ranger and Dylan Scott in the Professional Development Phase.
