2023/24 LEAGUE ONE FIXTURES RELEASED

22 June 2023

DERBY County are the first visitors to the Pirelli Stadium as the League One fixtures throw up an exciting start to the new campaign for the Brewers.

Albion’s opening day fixture is a trip to Blackpool, who were relegated from the Championship at the end of last season. The Brewers travel to Bloomfield Road on Saturday, August 5.

There will be a midweek Carabao Cup First Round tie (to be drawn later today) before the Rams arrive at the Pirelli Stadium in the second League One fixture of the season on Saturday, August 12.

That’s followed by away games at Shrewsbury (Tuesday, August 15) and Wycombe (Saturday, August 19) before Bolton Wanderers come to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, August 26.

It’s a testing opening month for the Brewers against some of last season’s strongest teams.

The Brewers have two home Christmas fixtures with Blackpool visiting on Boxing Day and Shrewsbury Town on Friday, December 29. On New Year’s Day the Brewers travel to Bolton.

Albion travel to Pride Park for the reverse fixture against Derby County on Saturday, January 13.

The Staffordshire derbies against Port Vale take place away on Saturday. September 9, and at home on Saturday, March 23.

It’s a Good Friday trip to Wigan on March 29 and an Easter Monday home game against Barnsley on April 1.

The Brewers complete the League One season on Saturday, April 27, with an away day at Fleetwood Town.

Manager Dino Maamria said: “Ideally, we would always like the first game to be at home in front of our fans who are excited for the start of the season but it’s a good fixture against Blackpool who came down from the Championship.

“The best thing about the fixtures is having Derby County at home for the first game as that’s the one our fans first look for. That’s going to be a terrific game for our first Saturday at home. It will be brilliant to start with a full house and to get our season going at home.

“The opening month gives us some very tough fixtures but that was the same as the end of last season and we came out of it with a lot of wins. On paper it’s a tough start but that’s why pre-season and our preparation have to be spot on so we are ready to attack that first month.”
