MATCH PREVIEW: WYCOMBE

10 March 2023

THE Brewers are back at the Pirelli Stadium for the first of two home games in a row starting with play-off chasing Wycombe Wanderers.

DID YOU KNOW?

As a former non-league club like the Brewers, Wycombe used to play in the FA Trophy and were twice winners, in 1991 and 1993.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

In 16 meetings between the two clubs dating back to a 1955 FA Cup tie there has never been a draw. The Brewers have won eight and Wycombe have won eight of those games. Albion have lost the last four league games between the two sides but did record an away win in the Papa Johns Trophy during that time.

MINUTE’S APPLAUSE

There will be a minute’s applause before kick-off to remember Burton Albion and Burton Albion Community Trust Honorary President John Jackson. There will be a tribute to John in the Matchday Brewer.

WOMEN AND GIRLS’ TAKEOVER

This fixture will be used to showcase our development of women and girls’ football development. Our women’s players will be at the Family Zone prior to kick off to meet fans and will do a lap of the pitch at half-time. The women’s team will take over the club Instagram account on the day and there will be special features in the Matchday Brewer.

FAMILY ZONE

Our regular Family Zone will be in operation for this game starting 90 minutes before kick-off and is open to home and away supporters.

Come and try out football, archery, inflatable fun, colouring and much more on the 3G pitch and inside the community building.

There is plenty more information for young fans on the club website such as the history of the club, how to become a mascot and fun things to do such as our autograph and colouring sheets which you can download now - click here to visit our Family Section!

SPONSORS

Match sponsor – Burton Kia

Burton Kia, of Centrum Gate, Burton, is a franchise dealership retailing new and used cars plus Kia aftersales. The multi-award-winning dealership has recently added more accolades to its portfolio including the Platinum Prestige Dealer Award at the 2021 Kia Dealer Excellence Awards. The annual and globally recognised award is presented by Kia UK to the best performing UK dealer partners. Burton Kia was the only UK recipient of the award, with just three per cent of Kia dealers globally awarded the Platinum status.

Additionally, Burton Kia came in second place for the Dealer of the Year Award, which takes into consideration overall performance in sales, after sales and customer experience throughout the past year. In both sales and after sales award categories, Burton Kia ranked in the top ten of the entire Kia UK dealer network.

You can check out some of the latest Kia models on display outside the main entrance prior to kick off.

Matchball – in Memory of Burton Albion Director Phil Brown

Thank you to all those who paid tribute to Phil, both at the Accrington game on 25th February and at his funeral on 27th February. We have raised over £6,000 split between his two nominated charities, St Giles Hospice and MNDA and we thank everyone for their kind donations. As a family we have been greatly comforted by the kindness of everyone in a terribly sad time. We will continue Phil’s legacy and continue to get behind the Brewers.

CELEBRATIONS

Happy 91st birthday to one of our longest-standing supporters, Bernard Lawes. Bernard has been following the club throughout our entire 73-year history.

Welcome to James Gardner who will be at the match with 40 of his friends as part of his stag events ahead of his wedding.

Happy birthday to Helen Marcer, who is celebrating her birthday with her family.
