GASSAN AHADME VISITS LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOL ETON PARK ACADEMY

31 March 2023

GASSAN Ahadme was a surprise guest this week at Eton Park Primary School as part of Burton Albion Community Trust’s Schools programme.

The striker swapped kicking a ball for throwing one, as the on-loan Ipswich Town man took part in bench ball games during the year 6 PE lesson.

The charitable arm of Burton Albion Football Club delivers sessions in Primary and Secondary schools across Burton upon Trent and East Staffordshire all through school term time.

Ahadme fully immersed in the session, and also took part in a Q&A session about his life as a footballer during Ramadan.

At the conclusion of the session, Ahadme signed autographs and posed for photos with the excited youngsters.

“From the minute I arrived the children were full of energy. I’ve never played bench ball before but it was a lot of fun. My team were brilliant and had me fully educated on the sport by the end,” said Ahadme.

“It was also good to chat to the students about Ramadan. Quite a few of them were also observing the holy month which is amazing to see.

“I couldn’t believe how many schools Burton Albion are in throughout the local area. Representing the club in a positive way is a pleasure and something as a football club we must do as much as possible” the striker said.

BACT School Sport manager Katie Johnson said: “Gassan was a delight on the session today. From playing bench ball to talking to the students about Ramadan, they absolutely loved him and didn’t want him to leave by the end.”
