JOHN CLARKE GIFTED NEW CHAIR

2 October 2023

BURTON Albion Academy coach John Clarke has been gifted a new chair after a huge fundraising effort.

John has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and relies on an electric wheelchair to get around. His chair recently broke down, causing a lot of stress and discomfort.

Upon the news of his chair breaking, Will Clough, a fellow coach at BAFC Academy and friend of John, started a fundraising page to purchase to chair to gift to John.

Donations flew in and very quickly went over £12,000 of the £15,000 target was raised.

John said: “I want to thank everyone who donated because this chair has changed my life completely. The fans, the staff, everyone who has pledged, I can’t thank you enough.

“Thanks to my new chair I can get back to full working life again, something I haven’t been able to do for a long time and I can’t even begin to say how happy all the support has made me.”

Will Clough said: “Seeing the smile back on John’s face is what we wanted to do. He is a person who we cherish so much at the club and not having him around has hurt us as much as it has hurt John.

“I want to thank everyone who has donated and supported so far and we are so close to the final total. Any donations, no matter how big or small will be hugely helpful to get us to the target.”
