SWAB TO SAVE A CHILD AT THE PIRELLI STADIUM

13 September 2023

ALL eligible people are being urged to come along to the Pirelli Stadium on Sunday and possibly help save a life.

Swab to Save a Child is on a mission to help children with blood cancer and bone marrow failure by supporting the growth of the bone marrow registry and educating people about what it means to be a donor.

Most people don't know that 90% of people will donate in the same way as donating blood platelets but if you are aged between 17 and 55 a simple cheek swab may be the start of you helping to save a life.

You can find out more, check the full eligibility criteria and sign up by visiting https://swabtosaveachild.com/

Alternatively, simply turn up at the Pirelli Stadium on Sunday, September 17, between 9am and 2pm to have a swab test.

The tests are taking place in the Tom Eccleshall Suite in the West Stand and volunteers will be there to help you through the process.

Currently only three per cent of people who would be suitable donors are registered so this is an important drive to increase that number that is taking place at 15 sites across the country.

Championed by a group of mothers whose children received a life-threatening diagnosis of leukemia or bone marrow failure, the mission is to make a positive impact on the lives of children in need and to find a life-saving match for some of the 2,000 children and adults every year who need a bone marrow transplant to have a second chance at life.
