FACTS and figures relating to tomorrow's game at Barnsley from Tony Bentley.

The last time that the Brewers played on September 16th was in 2017 when they hosted Fulham in the Championship. Albion took the lead in the 12th minute after Sean Scannell broke forward and pulled the ball back for Marvin Sordell. Unfortunately, Sordell miss-controlled under a challenge from Oliver Norwood. The ball broke towards the arriving Stephen Warnock who side footed home his only Burton goal. Fulham levelled things in the 31st minute when Norwood fired in a low 25 yard shot that beat Stephen Bywater. Lucas Akins scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the 51st minute, scoring from the penalty spot after Kyle McFadzean was brought down.

On Tuesday 16th September 2014 Gary Rowett took his Burton side to AFC Wimbledon in League Two. It turned out to be a bad night for Albion as Matt Tubbs opened the scoring after 21 minutes. Bayo Akinfenwa doubled the Dons lead after 37 minutes, before grabbing his second and his sides third goal to inflict a 3-0 defeat.

Before that it was back in 2006 when Albion made their one and only ever visit to St Albans City in the Blue Square Premier Division. A crowd of 1,111 were present to see Burton score the only goal in the 13th minute, when Steve Scoffham scored his only goal in a Brewers shirt.

The Brewers last visit to Oakwell was on Saturday 17th December 2022 in League One. Former Burton players Brad Collins and Devante Cole were in the home side starting eleven, with current Brewers defender Jasper Moon an unused substitute. Former Barnsley player, Victor Adeboyejo was in the Burton side. It was Cole who came back to haunt his former employers scoring twice after 36 and 73 minutes to earn Barnsley a 2-0 win in front of 9,423 fans.

It was Tuesday 19th February 2019 when the two sides fought out a League One goalless draw in front of 11,778 fans. This time Brad Collins was in goal for Burton, and Victor Adeboyejo came on as a 73rd minute substitute for Barnsley.

The only time that Burton Albion have won at Oakwell came in their second Championship season. It was Tuesday 20th February 2018 when 11,774 fans saw Burton take a first minute lead. It was a brilliant team goal with all eleven outfield players involved in a flowing move that ended with Jamie Allen firing home. Right on the stroke of half time Burton doubled their lead courtesy of a fine 20-yard free kick from Jacob Davenport. The second half was another matter though as Barnsley laid siege on the Burton goal. Keiffer Moore pulled a goal back in the 75th minute, and the home side saw what they thought was the equaliser ruled out to enable Nigel Clough’s side to earn their first win in eight games.
