WOMEN’S TEAM TAKE TIME OUT TO SUPPORT LIFE-SAVING CAMPAIGN

19 September 2023

BURTON Albion’s women’s team took time out on a match day to visit a life-saving project being held at the Pirelli Stadium.

The team played Kidderminster Harriers on Sunday afternoon and before kick-off the squad headed over to the Tom Eccleshall Suite in the Don Amott Stand where Swab to Save a Child had moved in for the day.

Swab to Save a Child is on a mission to help children with blood cancer and bone marrow failure by supporting the growth of the bone marrow registry and educating people about what it means to be a donor.

People aged between 17 and 55 were encouraged to come along for a simple cheek swab which may be the start of them helping to save a life.

Joe Kirkland, women’s first team manager, said: “Burton Albion is a the club that is at the heart of its communities and the women’s team are no exception. It’s brilliant to support such crucial initiatives such as swab to save a life and we can’t wait to support future endeavours.”
