DINO Maamria says his team suffered today from the hard work put in on Tuesday night at Port Vale.
The Brewers manager named an unchanged team but they laboured to a 1-1 draw against Fleetwood at the Pirelli Stadium.
Maamria said: “We are disappointed today as our performance was not at the level we expected. The players gave so much on Tuesday. The lads put so much into it I wasn’t sure whether to go with the same team or freshen it up a little bit. In the end we were so good on Tuesday it would have been a risk to change it so we looked after the lads the last couple of days and thought they would be in good shape to go again.
“But we looked a bit flat and I think I can only say that Tuesday’s performance took the edge of us today.”
The Brewers took the lead after Joe Powell scored after his penalty was initially saved. But Fleetwood were level two minutes later.
Maamria said: “They scored a great goal but it came from a throw in, where we just gave it to them. It was madness really and we weren’t thinking straight. If you have just scored it’s important to then to see out the next 15 minutes and then go and get a second."
Maamria was also disappointed that Albion weren't an attacking threat in the second half.
“It’s obvious to everyone today what the problem was. We got in some brilliant positions but in the final third our quality was really poor. We didn’t create enough.
“The performance wasn’t there today. You can’t control results as sometimes you play well and don’t win but you can control the performance and it was below par today.
“But we took a point after a win at Port Vale and we are in a better position than we were a week ago.
“We take that for now and I’m sure we will come back stronger.”
