Adam McGurk scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute to secure another three points for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side.

In 2012 it was a trip to Essex on this date to face Dagenham & Redbridge. Jacques Maghoma put Albion ahead in the 48th minute, only for Brian Woodall to earn a share of the points with an 88th minute equaliser, in front of 2,035 fans.

Matt Duke then saved a 36th minute penalty, only for it to be ordered to be retaken, and this time Nick Crittenden doubled the home side’s lead. OXFORD UNITED

It was Saturday, January 28, 2023 when Burton and Oxford United met in Staffordshire last season. Burton took the lead in the 40th minute in unusual fashion. A long throw was cleared to the edge of the area where Zac Ashworth unleased a fierce volley which beat the Oxford keeper Simon Eastwood but cannoned against the post. Fortunately for Albion, but not Eastwood, the ball rebounded and hit his back before rolling into the net. Dale Taylor doubled the lead in the 49th minute when he deftly flicked in Tom Hamer’s low cross, to complete a 2-0 win in front of 2,993 fans.

The last time Oxford won at the Pirelli Stadium was on Saturday, October 23, 2021. A crowd of 3,391 saw the U’s Matt Taylor give his side a 1st minute lead. This lead was doubled through a Michael Bostwick own goal after 43 minutes. Charlie Lakin pulled a goal back for the Brewers after 80 minutes, his only goal for the club. Before James Henry ensured the points went to Oxfordshire with an 84th minute penalty.

Chris Beardsley was in temporary charge of Albion in the behind closed doors game on 2nd January 2021. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Dino Maamria were in the stands having taken over the night before the game. Matt Taylor opened the scoring after 9 minutes. Olamide Shadipo added two more for the U’s after 18 and 31 minutes. Kane Hemmings reduced the deficit in the 40th minute. Before Josh Ruffels added two more for Oxford in the 56th and 63rd minute to inflict a heavy defeat.

Nigel Clough was in charge of the Brewers for the game on February 11, 2020. This time Chris Beardsley was on the substitute bench. Lucas Akins gave his side a 20th minute lead, before Daniel Agyei equalised after 63 minutes. Jamie Murphy restored Burton’s lead with a shot from just inside the area after 71 minutes. The points were eventually shared after Matt Taylor scored a 90th minute equaliser, in front of 2,278 fans.
