MARTIN Paterson says that with four games to go the Brewers need to stick together and show belief to make sure the club is still in League One next season.

Albion travel to Stevenage on Saturday and then have back-to-back home games against Cheltenham and Reading before finishing the season away at Fleetwood.

The Brewers squeezed out of the bottom four on goal difference after Port Vale lost to Peterborough on Wednesday.

The Brewers manager said: “We are still in the fight, and we are working very hard to turn things around. There’s still positivity in the group and believe me they are trying.

“The mood has been good this week as there has been a real design from the staff to make sure the players have had no time to wallow and feel sorry for themselves.

“There are four games left. We have a mini season of four games, and we have allowed nothing other than positivity in terms of attacking these remaining fixtures starting with a real tough one at Stevenage.

“We have tested the group with different strategies within training sessions but ultimately, it’s about making sure they rest and recover and making sure we bring back the memories of when they have done well and scored goals and done excellent things to get results.

“We draw the line under what’s happened and focus on these last four games.

“We don’t rely on other results or talk about things good or bad that are out of our control. We have the capability to string results together and we have to find it. It's in our hands and we need to be positive and win our games.

“We are in a bad period, but I do believe it will turn in these four games and we tell the players that one performance can be a springboard to achieve something fantastic in these last four games. It’s not an impossibility, it’s more than possible if we believe in the simple things we need to do to win games of football.”

Mason Bennett is the Brewers only injury concern.

Paterson said: “He’s only doing light training at present. He will have a fitness test tomorrow, possibly, depending on how he feels. Apart from that we have a full bill of health.”
