PATERSON DISAPPOINTED WITH ANOTHER POSTPONEMENT

13 February 2024

MARTIN Paterson said that player safety had to be the priority after tonight’s game was called off.

Another Tuesday afternoon deluge hit the Pirelli Stadium pitch and the referee eventually decided that with the rain still falling the game couldn’t go ahead.

The Albion manager said: “It’s obviously disappointing to not get the game on especially on the back of a good solid win on Saturday but if you look at it now, the corner areas and sidelines, it is unsafe and player safety ultimately overrules everything else.

“We are disappointed for the fans but there is nothing we can do and we now have to refocus for Saturday. The lads are doing a fitness session now to get their hearts and lungs going. We will continue with the training and make sure we are prepared to go down to Leyton Orient.

“We mirror what we did last week in terms of preparation and then hopefully we can get the same result.”
