FACTS and figures relating to tonight’s League One game away at Derby County from Tony Bentley.


The Brewers have only played one Football League game previously on 15th January. It was in 2022 when they travelled to Kent to face Gillingham. A crowd of 4,198 saw Robbie Mitchell put the home side ahead in the third minute, a lead they held until early in the second half. Tom Hamer equalised in the 50th minute with a looping header back across goal following a deep Cameron Borthwick Jackson cross. Albion went ahead in the 79th minute when Terry Taylor’s low cross looped up off a defender, and John Brayford was on hand to head home the loose ball. Current player Mustapha Carayol came on as a late substitute for the Gills, before Albion made it 3-1 in the 87th minute. Charlie Lakin sent in low cross which Jonny Smith turned in from close range.

It was FA Trophy Third Round action on Saturday 15th January 2005. York City were the visitors to Eton Park as goals from Barry Miller in the 39th, Jon Shaw in the 53rd and Kris Taylor two minutes later, completed a 3-0 win in front of 1,286 fans.

Another FA Trophy Third ound game was played on Saturday 15th January 2000. This time Workington played out a 1-1 draw in Burton in front of 1,014 fans, with Mark Blount scoring for Nigel Clough’s side.

It was another home game on this date in 1994. Cambridge City were the visitors for a Southern League Premier fixture which ended in a 1-1 draw. A crowd of 735 saw Jason Rhodes score the Brewers goal.

In 1983 Telford United earned a 1-0 FA Trophy victory at Eton Park, in front of a crowd of 1,007


The last time Burton Albion travelled to Pride Park was on Saturday 22nd April 2023. There were 2,101 Burton fans in the crowd of 29,304. Albion had a great chance to take the lead in the first half when Dale Taylor played in Deji Oshilaja. Although his shot beat Joe Wildsmith it cannoned back off the post and was cleared. The only goal of the game came in the 63rd minute after Joe Powell conceded a penalty when he tripped Max Bird. David McGoldrick sent Craig MacGillivray the wrong way from the spot to earn all three points.

Albion played at Derby on Saturday 2nd December 2017 in the Championship. Derby had Sam Winnall in their team, whilst the Burton side had four former Rams players in their squad. Stephen Bywater, John Brayford and Jake Buxton all started the match, with Luke Varney coming on as an 84th minute substitute. Derby scored the only goal of the game in the 81st minute when Johnny Russell fired home after Matty Palmer failed to clear a ball in the Burton penalty area.

The first meeting between the two sides at Pride Park was on Tuesday 21st February 2017. A crowd of 31,081 saw the two sides play out a goalless draw.
