CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AT TOMORROW’S GAME AT THE PIRELLI STADIUM

8 March 2024

AT tomorrow’s fixture Burton Albion Football Club and Burton Albion Community Trust will celebrate and recognise the significant role played by women across our club.

Tomorrow's fixture is also a Her Game Too dedicated fixture. Her Game Too is a voluntary campaign led by a team of dedicated female football fans who are passionate about creating a positive change in football and the wider sporting world.

From employees, volunteers to participants on projects at the club and the club’s charity Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT).

Whilst the men’s team kick off at 3pm our celebration will kick off at 1pm as our Emerging Talent Centre girls will take part in fixtures against Peterborough at the Community Football Centre.

Our women’s first team players will be in attendance at the pre match Family Zone from 1.30pm meeting fans and members of our girls’ teams and Wildcats projects who are joining us on Saturday for flag bearing duties, mascots and a half time pitch walk.

We’re pleased to also have various members of our projects in attendance on Saturday including female football, football and education and Kicks.

In the build up to the week, BACT has shared stories of those involved behind the scenes who champion the important roles played by females in our club.

Interim Head of Community John Widdowson said: “Saturday is going to be a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on the amazing efforts and achievements of our female staff, volunteers and participants.

“But the work, time and energy given to our club is done all year round. We reach more than 14,000 people per week and over 45% of these are females. We have a strong female workforce and countless volunteers supporting all that we do”.

You can find our spotlight stories on www.burtonalbioncommunitytrust.co.uk and also more information on the projects and programmes delivered by the charity.
