CHARITY COLLECTION RAISES £650

13 March 2024

A CHARITY bucket collection held at a Burton Albion home game has raised £650.

The 1st Branston Scouts came to the Pirelli Stadium to boost funds for the group by asking fans to contribute by putting cash in buckets at the turnstiles.

The collection took place at the home game against Peterborough United on Saturday, March 9, with both sets of fans contributing.

Assistant Scout Leader Mandy Archer  for 1st Branston Scouts said: “We were delighted with the money raised and we want to thank Burton Albion FC for allowing us to come and do the collection and to both sets of fans for giving so generously.

“It’s brilliant that Burton Albion gives groups like ours the opportunity to hold collections on matchdays and raise vital funds.”

Burton Albion hosts collections for different charity groups throughout the season with the next one taking place on Saturday, March 23, at the Port Vale fixture with Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity asking for your support.

Roy Burton from the Pirelli Stadium Vaccination Centre said: "As well as organising collections for the Scouts, Mandy also volunteers many hours for Burton Albion Commnity Trust and also bakes hundreds of cakes for all the other volunteers and NHS/PCN staff on vaccine days and we just couldn’t operate without her volunteering duties and her fantastic cakes."
