BURTON ALBION STAFF MEMBER RECEIVES SECOND SUBSTANTIAL DONATION TOWARDS GHANA TRIP

19 March 2024

A BURTON Albion member of staff has received a second incredibly generous donation for her once-in-a-lifetime trip to Ghana.

Zoe Bailey, who works in the Ticketing & Events department at the Pirelli Stadium, has recieved a brilliant £500 from local company Uniq recycling.

Uniq recycling are a Burton-based company who recycle electronics and specialise in IT and computers and have very kindly donated the money that will go towards supporting Burton Albion Community Trust's upcoming trip to Ghana.

Zoe also received another donation of £500 from fellow local company Grief earlier in the year.

Zoe and the group of volunteers are jetting off to Woe, in the Volta Region of Ghana on a lifechanging adventure. The region itself is one of the poorest in the country.

The trip is operated in partnership with African Adventures, who operate multiple group volunteer programmes to Africa, and the group will depart for their trip on 23rd March and return on 2nd April.

Whilst there, Zoe and the team will help with building projects, teach lessons to local children, visit a local maternity ward and much more. This year's group will be hoping to build on last year's success after they built a school, completed the canteen they started in 2022 and painted classrooms in the local school Tegbi EP.

"The trip is so close now and I'm just so excited to go. To have been supported by a second locally-based company is incredible and I can't thank Uniq recycling enough for their support. They have been brilliant for me and the money they have donated" said Zoe.

Paul Gaskin, Community Manager at BACT said: "We are very excited for this year's trip to Ghana and the time has flown by. We always say Burton Albion is at the heart of its communities and the community response to this trip has been amazing. They have been incredible with their support and we can't thank them enough.

"The trip is rapidly coming up and we can't wait to go out and make as much difference in Woe as we possibly can."
