CLUB captain John is in his third spell with the Brewers having become the first player to progress from the club’s academy in 2006 having originally been on the books of Manchester City

John went on to make more than 100 appearances before moving to Crewe Alexandra in August 2008. Having won the Player Of The Year award in successive seasons at Gresty Road, John was reunited with former Albion boss Nigel Clough at Derby County.

After three years at Pride Park and another century of appearances John moved to Premier League side Cardiff City, staying in South Wales for two seasons before linking up with Clough again at Sheffield United, initially on loan in 2014.

A loan move to the Brewers saw John return to the Pirelli Stadium in 2016, signing for Nigel Clough for a fourth time with a permanent move following in the summer of 2017. John has made over 150 appearances for the club over the last four seasons and signed a new contract in the summer of 2022.
