Shaun made an emotional return to football in August 2016 after over four years out of the game following a horrendous knee injury suffered playing for former club Derby County against Nottingham Forest in 2012.

His return was against the Rams and he went on to make several substitute appearances throughout the course of last season. Shaun's career began as a youth with Rotherham United in 2003, the Young Player Of The Year Award a symbol of his early promise.

Three years and 132 appearances for the Millers led to a move to Blackpool, a club where he quickly became a favourite, named Supporters Player Of The Year in his first year at the club and racking up a further 149 appearances in three seasons at Bloomfield Road before becoming one of Nigel Clough's first signings at Derby County in the summer of 2009.

Immediately impressing at a new club once more Shaun was Player Of The Year at Derby in his first season establishing himself as a cornerstone of the Rams defence until injury struck.

After lengthy rehabilitation Shaun was released by Derby in the summer of 2015 before linking up with his former manager once more in a bid to return to return to fitness once more.
