BURTON MP Kate Griffiths dropped in to see for herself how the booster vaccination programme was being delivered by Burton Albion Community Trust.
The BACT vaccination programme is based at the Pirelli Stadium where most doses are delivered.
But last week the BACT team took all the equipment in a trust minibus over to Uttoxeter Racecourse to reach the people who need the booster jab.
And the MP took time out to meet the volunteers and thank them for their continued efforts.
Roy Burton, BACT’s Vaccination Centre Manager, said: “We spent two days at the racecourse and delivered more than 1,100 doses each day.
“We are on phase three of the vaccination programme and that means one shot of the Pfizer vaccine for those who are ready for it.
“It was great to welcome Kate. She has taken a keen interest in the vaccination programme from the start and she had chats with the volunteers and Debbie Melling who looks after things from the NHS side.”
Roy and the BACT team will be back at the Pirelli Stadium this weekend delivering more booster vaccinations for people who already have booked appointments.
He said: “We have now delivered more than 132,000 vaccinations and are delighted to be helping to protect all those people.”
