BREWERS PLAYERS DROP IN ON PIRELLI FUN DAY

25 July 2016

MORE than 400 people attended the inaugural Pirelli Family Day on Saturday, which was held at Pirelli’s UK headquarters in Burton on Derby Road.

The event was a chance for Pirelli employees and local residents to bring their family members to enjoy a fun-filled day at the tyre-making plant.

A number of VIPs enjoyed the proceedings too, including the Mayor of East Staffordshire, Cllr Beryl Toon, Andrew Griffiths MP and several Councillors from East Staffordshire Borough Council.

Players from Burton Albion and manager Nigel Clough, were on site as well signing autographs for families.

Attendees were able to enjoy a tour of MIRS, the state-of-the-art tyre production facility at Burton which uses a variety of robots to produce tyres for the likes of Bentley, Mercedes and BMW.

They were treated to a car stunt display from Russ Swift and a motorbike stunt display from Kevin Carmichael. A selection of prestige cars were also on display from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Audi, Maserati, Jaguar, Land Rover as well as the McLaren P1 GTR, all on Pirelli rubber.

There were a variety of activities to keep the crowds entertained including the Pirelli Formula 1 simulator, pit stop challenge, Batak reaction game, crazy golf, bouncy castle, bucking bronco and much more, as well as displays from the local fire service, Costco, ATL, DHL and the Sea Cadets.

The day also provided a fundraising opportunity for St Giles Hospice, which offers specialist care in a variety of settings for patients with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and helpers.

Pirelli UK Managing Director Dominic Sandivasci said: “It was a fantastic event and a great opportunity for our employees to show their families where they work.”
