TEAM SPIRIT IS THE KEY FOR BREWERS, SAYS KEEPER

30 June 2016

STEPHEN Bywater believes there’s a great togetherness amongst the Brewers goalkeeping department and the whole first team squad.

After signing a new one-year deal, the keeper said: “At this club, everyone’s together and hopefully that will show on the pitch.

“In the goalkeeping team, I think there’s a lot of ability there with Jon McLaughlin and Sam Hornby. We all get on really well and push each other.

"Our boss in the goalkeeping department is Martin Taylor and we work well as a four. We get on well and did well as a unit last year. It’s a department which  I think is very solid.”

Bywater is looking forward to the new season in the Championship.

He said: “There’s nothing to fear. We will go out there and do what we did last year – be a team and do what the Gaffer says.

“The Gaffer has a wealth of knowledge from his playing and managerial career and he’s good at managing people and I’m sure we can do well on the pitch.

“It’s a good club and, hopefully, it will be exciting for everyone - not just the players and management. We will do our all and I’m sure the supporters will back us. It’s a year we can look forward to and carry on from last year.

“Team spirit is important for us. You look at the Euros and see Iceland, Wales and the rest. They have togetherness,  team spirit and they have a plan and a structure. The managers are helping the players execute the plan on the pitch and that’s what will happen here.”
