CHRISTENSEN PRAISES TEAM FOR PUTTING BREWERS IN A GREAT POSITION

24 April 2017

LASSE Christensen says the Burton Albion players are 'happy and relived to have put the club in a great position'.

Speaking after the 2-1 victory over Leeds, the midfielder said: "We are very close without being there yet. Being confirmed as staying up would have been the cherry on the top of a great day but we have put ourselves in a very good position now. We did everything we could.

"We were a bit tired after the game as it was a big push as it has been for the last few weeks, especially with the pressure coming on after we lost to Ipswich so to beat Birmingham and Leeds is massive.

"We will be safe when we are mathematically safe and we will enjoy it then but for now we will enjoy the fact we have done everything we can to get to this position."

The Fulham loanee also praised manager Nigel Clough for the way he has gone abut preparing the squad.

He said: "The influence he has had on the club and the players since I have been here has been massive. The whole team has been terrific, the Gaffer and the backroom staff. We have some good leaders in the squad and players who are willing to put their bodies on the line for the team and we also have players who can go and finish the job off."

Christensen doesn't know what will happen when his loan spell ends with the Brewers.

"I am just focussing on the last two games and the Under 21 Euros in the summer with Denmark  - whatever happens from there will happen and I just want to enjoy the next two games with Burton."
