JAMIE WARD'S ASTON VILLA REACTION

27 December 2016

JAMIE Ward scored one of the goals of the season at Villa Park against the club he grew up supporting, but his goal counted for nothing in the 2-1 loss.

The Birmingham-born forward scored an equaliser in the first half but admits the defeat was difficult to take after another good performance.

He said: "It's difficult to take, we deserved a lot more from the game so it's just one of them things.

"We've struggled away from home, there's a big problem away from home for some reason or another. Performances have been good, we just can't see games out.

"Football is all about luck and at the moment we aren't getting it. All we can do is keep working hard and keep performing the way we are and hopefully the luck will turn."

Ward has scored nearly 100 goals in his career and says the goal at Villa Park is up there with the best.

He said: "Yes definitely it's up there but I'd much rather have the three points than the goal. The most important thing at the end of the day is the team.

"The goal obviously means an awful lot but I'd rather have the three points. Scoring every goal mans an awful lot it's a great feeling to score goals."
