KEEPER SAYS UNBEATEN RUN MEANS TEAM IS IN POSITIVE FRAME OF MIND

9 March 2017

JON McLaughlin believes that hard fought draws on the road are vital to the Brewers cause.

The Albion keeper is delighted with the current run of five unbeaten games that has also seen only three goals conceded.

He said: “You saw again against Sheffield Wednesday that it wasn’t easy. They had a lot of the ball and put in a lot of crosses into our box. But we have dug in, been dogged defensively and come away with another crucial point.

“At this stage it is very important to get that unbeaten run going especially playing against the calibre of teams we are facing. Those away performances at Derby and Sheffield Wednesday are very good for us and if we can back that up with positive results at home then that really does make a massive difference.

“We are in a very positive frame of mind after this string of results.”

McLaughlin was frustrated with conceding a long range effort that allowed Sheffield Wednesday to take the lead on Tuesday night, but pleased with the reaction to going behind and the way the Brewers fought back to earn a deserved draw.

He said: “It’s never nice when you get beaten from that far out. It’s massively frustrating when a goal like that sneaks in and you know you should be doing better. When you go to places like that you want to do everything you can to not give them an easy start. Luckily, from a team perspective, we got the goal back and put in a good performance.”
