WILLIAMSON SAYS WATFORD'S QUALITY SHOWED IN THE END

9 January 2017

LEE Williamson enjoyed returning to his former club but was disappointed that Albion bowed out of the FA Cup at Watford on Saturday.

The Brewers lost 2-0 to the Premier League side and although the Championship is the priority for Nigel Clough's side, Williamson says the team still hoped to pull off an upset.

"You never want to lose games regardless of the competition. The boys put up a fight but it was unfortunate that on the day we weren't good enough.

"They are in a Premier League team and they have been there a while now so the quality is there. It's a good ground and they have good players. It's a very good club and all that told in the end."

The midfielder was happy however to be back in the starting line up.

"For me it's always good to play. I didn't get off to the best of starts after arriving in the summer as I got injured pre-season which set me back and meant I was chasing a bit in terms of fitness and was in and out of the team.

"So it was good for me to get 90 minutes under my belt against Watford. It's just always disappointing when you are playing but losing games. But it's onto the next one now."

Williamson did get the chance to revisit one of his former clubs.

"I spent three years at Watford and they were good times. The club has changed a lot and they are doing well know so I wish them all the best and hope they stay in the Premier League."
