WOODROW DELIGHTED WITH PRODUCTIVE LOAN SPELL

8 May 2017

CAULEY Woodrow capped off a productive loan spell with a goal in the final game of the season and had praise for the contributions of his temporary teammates.

Woodrow, an England under 21s international, joined the Brewers in the latter part of January from Fulham until the end of the season. The forward scored five goals for Albion, including a crucial late winner against Wolves in February.

Despite his personal success, Woodrow believes it is the contributions of the entire Burton squad that has led to their survival in the Championship.

“On a personal note, I am really pleased with the goals I have scored, they have come at important times but it is not just down to me.

“The reason that we have stayed up is things like (John) Brayford clearing balls off the line, other lads as well have got some really important goals for the team and it has been a whole team effort.

“I wouldn’t like to pick anyone out individually and say that it was all down to them, it has been a whole team effort, everyone has done their jobs and done really well.”

Woodrow was also pleased with a goal in his final match. The striker praised Reading but felt that Burton played better than the score-line suggested.

“On a personal note, it's a really nice achievement, obviously to get a goal as well, I'm really, really happy," said the striker.

“I think you've got to take into account Reading are third in the league and a really good side.

“But I think we probably played the better football today. We were probably on top more than they were. They were probably a little bit more clinical at times and that's probably why they are where they are in the league."
