SUPPORTERS HELP BOOST CHARITY APPEAL

6 October 2015

A BUCKET collection held by Burton Hospitals League of Friends at a Burton Albion game raised £442.17.

The charity, which supports staff and patients and helps purchase equipment which the NHS would not otherwise be able to provide, is currently raising cash as part of its 35th anniversary appeal which will help provide vital eye care equipment at Queen's Hospital.

The collection at the recent Sheffield United home game was undertaken by volunteers from the League of Friends and Bretby Rotary Club.

Burton Albion chairman Ben Robinson said: “The group's chairman Pauline Spratt is retiring after this fund-raising drive and I’m glad we could help her get closer to her last charity target.

"Pauline has worked tirelessly for the organisation and has made a remarkable contribution to staff and patients at Queen's Hospital and we are all very grateful for her efforts."

Pauline said: “I would like to thank Bretby Rotary for their support with the bucket collection and John Carr, especially, for organising the collectors. Our thanks also go to the supporters and staff of Burton Albion for their generosity.”

The League of Friends will be holding a fund-raising dinner at the Pirelli Stadium on October 30 with tickets priced £35 still available from the League of Friends. Call 561111 or email Pauline.Spratt@burtonft.nhs.uk
