CLOUGH EXPECTS NO FAVOURS FROM DONCASTER

6 May 2016

NIGEL Clough believes that both Doncaster and Port Vale will want all three points on Sunday despite having little to play for.

The Brewers take on Doncaster knowing a point will guarantee promotion to the Championship while Walsall, the only team who can deny the Brewers, travel to Vale Park.

The Brewers boss said: “Rob Page (Port Vale)  and Darren Ferguson (Doncaster) will want to win their last games, irrespective of whether there is anything to play for or not. That’s a good thing straight away because of those two managers.

“You always want to win your last home game, whatever the circumstances.”

Doncaster are all but relegated but Clough doesn’t think that will make the game any easier for the Brewers.

He said: “Doncaster’s situation looks irretrievable – but beware the team that has nothing to play for.

“We don’t know how Doncaster are going to react - just as we didn’t know how Colchester were going to react.”

The Brewers go into the game in good form after consecutive wins.

Clough said: “We have to put in a similar performance to the last few games. We aren’t asking them to change anything or do anything different; just keep playing the way we have been. We have been very good at keeping clean sheets and that will be the basis, as always, we will work from.”
